Game Update

Started the process of blocking out the game trailer for Steam. It would seem that in the genre of strategy games have three key elements a hook, a mini tutorial, and some various game play elements. Most trailers are between one to two minutes with an average of a minute thirty. Some other nice elements are social proof statements of good reviews from news outlets. It’s likely those won’t be available to me however.

I spent some time cleaning up my office to make it more inviting to work in. I think I might just take a lot of this paper and put it in plastic tubs. Realistically at this point the paper has been sitting around for a full year and I haven’t looked at hardly any of it.

I will need to go through the spreadsheets still as some of the stats aren’t where they need to be. Primarily I know that the knights likely have to many hit points right now. It’s going to be a balancing act to get everything right, but if a character ends up under powered or over powered I’m not to worried as the concept of imperfect perfection takes care of that.

Personal Update

I spent most of the weekend driving to take my boys to be with my ex-wifes family for the Christmas Holiday. With the boys away there will be plenty of time for me to work on my game. The issue is that a lot of my habits are built around the kids. I don’t have a lot of habits to trigger my productivity which means I need to be aware and start habits right away. A habit like coming home and sitting at my desk to look at the game will be a good start.

I got lucky and will have some people to spend the holidays with this year. I feel so blessed to be in the position I’m in. I’m starting to get settled in here with friend groups which is strange as I am still used to my military way of life in which things are much more temporary.

I’m following through to audition for the church praise and worship team. I do that on Wednesday, and so it will be interesting to see how that turns out. I try to be free from outcomes as much as possible, and this case is no different. That said I am spending some time working on music for the audition which is taking some time away from development, but I think the overall effect will be a net gain to give me more focus to get things done.
